Frequently Asked Questions
Artist Accounts
- How do I register for an artist account?
You may register at Artistic Exploits, using your email, by clicking the Sign-Up button on the header of our website. The first form you will encounter is for simple accounts that are limited to purchasing products using our services. If you require an artists’ account you will have to click on the link above that form. Or just click here and we will direct you appropriately.
If you own a registered company, in either type of account, and would like invoices to be issued to such company, please provide all relevant information on your registration form.
Please note that to be able to receive payments from Artistic Exploits, for any sales you acquire through our platform, you will need to pass through our KYC process. To do that, you will need to have a picture of your Identification Card (front and back), and the IBAN and BIC numbers of the bank account you want your revenues to be transferred to.
- What does KYC mean?
KYC is short for Know Your Customer. It is what businesses do in order to verify the identity of their clients either before or during the time that they start doing business with them. In our effort to provide a worry-free purchasing experience, and deter any fraudulent individuals we require all new artist registrations to pass through our KYC process. Any artists' account has to first be verified in order for that artist to be able to receive any payments from Artistic Exploits.
- Can anyone register for an artist account?
All artists are welcome to join our community. Professional or amateur. If you feel confident about what you create we would love to have you with us. Join our community today!
The only restrictions we have are geographical restriction and are set according to our payment processing partners’ guidelines. They have a specific list of countries where they are authorised to process payments from and to. Click here for more in-depth information as it comes to which countries we can service at the moment.
Keep in mind that, at this time, you can upload artworks under three (3) categories. Photography, Painting and Digital Art. Hopefully, shortly, we may be able to support more art forms.
- What is the difference between the available subscription packages?
At the time the subscription packages that we offer are only distinct in the amount of space acquired, ranging from 2GB to 25GB of space. All other features are the same. While we grow wiser, and are able to understand your needs better, we will be adding more diverse features to each subscription.
FYI: By purchasing an annual subscription plan, you will get one month for FREE!
- Where can I view my subscription details?
If you are looking for information about your subscription, you may find such information under the tab ‘Main Dashboard’ in your account. You can view the type of subscription you have purchased, your subscription status, the next renewal date and your remaining space. Additionally, from this section you may upgrade, downgrade, or delete your account.
- How does auto-renewal work?
The autorenewal feature was designed for your convenience. It is there to ensure that you never have issues with account suspension or deletion. You have made a great effort in creating and promoting your profile and we do not want you to lose that for a misunderstanding. Here is how it works:
Monthly Plans
Monthly subscription plans are re-billed on the exact date each month based on the date you have purchased such subscription. For example, if you have purchased your subscription on the 14th then on the 14th of each month you will be billed for the next months’ subscription.
Yearly Plans
Yearly subscription plans are not auto-renewed. Seven days before the expiration of such subscriptions you will receive an automated reminder that your subscription is about to expire on the exact date you have purchased such subscription. The only thing that you will have to do is to log in to your account and repurchase the desired subscription. All your artworks, information and data will remain untouched!
- How do I cancel or delete my subscription?
Despite the benefits and exposure, an artist may gain from owning an Artistic Exploits account and Profile, we understand that there might be times that you will require, and have every right, to cancel and would like to completely remove such account. You may do that by just pressing the ‘Cancel Account’ button under ‘Subscription Information’ in your Main Dashboard tab. If your account does not have any sales or purchase history, then all of your data will be removed from our systems within 15 days of such request.
If you have purchased or sold any products using our services, we would like to remind you, that because of the legal restrictions involved, there is no way to fully delete your account from our database. Your profile will no longer be visible, and your Content will no longer be available for sale through our services but some information might be saved for some time after such action occurs. If you require any further clarifications you may revisit the general Terms and Conditions section of our website.
- Does Artistic Exploits charge any cancellation fees?
Artistic Exploits procedures are designed to offer you uninterrupted access to your account. You may choose to cancel your subscription at any time you may require to do so and we will not charge any cancellation fees. You will be paid the whole amount that you have earned during your time with us but keep in mind that we do not make any refunds for subscription plans that have not yet expired. Therefore, we advise you, if you decide to leave us, to cancel your subscription the previous day before its’ renewal date in order not to miss out on any sales that you might gain during your subscriptions’ active period.
- Do you charge any commissions on artists’ sales?
No, we do not! We appreciate and support the struggles and hard work of all artists and do not believe in making revenues off the hard work of others. Artists keep 100% of their sales revenues by just keeping an active subscription with us.
- I've made a sale!
That is great news! There are two different procedures for digital and physical product sales.
If you made a digital sale then you do not have to do anything else. Our platform will handle the rest and the buyer would be able to download the original file through their account under 'My Downloads' tab.
If you sold a physical product though (i.e. painting, drawing), it is time for you to prepare your artwork for shipment. If you need any ideas on how to package your artwork you may click here and read an article about the matter in our blog. You can then find all relevant buyer shipping information in the order under your ‘My Sales’ tab in your account.
Once your artwork is on it’s way to its new home, you will have to go back to your account, find the specific order in your ‘My Sales’ tab and change the status of that order to ‘shipped’. Insert the tracking information that was given to you by the shipping company and you are done. An automated email will be then sent by us to your customer informing them of your actions. If they need any further assistance they would probably contact you directly.
- How can I increase my chances of selling on Artistic Exploits marketplace?
Complete your profile
In all online marketplaces, the most important thing is the amount of time and effort the account owner puts into building their reputation. The first and most important thing is to have a complete profile. Most visitors will be hesitant to purchase any artworks from artists with incomplete profile pages.
Upload a cover image and profile photo for your store. Complete all relevant information about yourself, contact information, your services and any store policies that you may have that will be valuable to your prospects and fans. Link your profile to any social media accounts that you own and enable your fans to gain a more diverse perspective of who you are.
Make your store interesting
You should only upload your best work! Give the user a reason to view your entire collection. And especially avoid uploading sister shots. By sister shots, we mean uploading multiple artworks of the same thing with only small differences. For instance, if you take two photos of the same landscape, decide to use the one you love most. If a visitor sees a lot of the same things, they will most probably shift their attention elsewhere.
Create rapport
Furthermore, by supporting your fans and staying in touch with them you will increase your visibility and build trust. Use the internal messaging service in your account to communicate with your followers any news that you may have. You may also use this service to communicate ideas and feelings that will make such followers understand who you are. Always use this feature wisely. Don’t become a spammer as your fans will unfollow you.
Share Share Share!
Share your work from our website to your social media and direct your fans to find out where they can buy your work from. Even link your social media accounts with your profile URL in order to direct your fans to your Artistic Exploits store. It is always best to inform them where they can purchase your artworks from.
Become a guest blogger
We are always looking for writers that will add personality, new ideas and information to our blog. We have specific categories in our blog like ‘Inspiration’, ‘Art News’, ‘How to’ sections etc. If you have an inclination in writing and have something to share with the world please do not hesitate to send us your articles at [email protected] Include any images or graphs that should accompany such an article. Our team will review your work and get back to you if they feel that it would be relevant to our readers.
If we decide to use any of your articles, we will link your profile page to direct users to view your artworks. Please include the exact details of your Artistic Exploits account on the title of your email.
Earn your spot on our homepage
On our homepage, you will find a section titled ‘Most viewed artists’. This section is updated monthly to include the 20 most viewed artists on our marketplace. We link their profile on one of their artworks in order for more fans to view their work. Additionally, the 3 artists that are higher ranked, each month, will earn a featured interview that will be posted in our blog and also promoted on our social media accounts.
- How can I increase the visibility of my artworks on Artistic Exploits marketplace?
For your artworks to have the best chance on our marketplace you must create each product thoughtfully and utilise all fields when creating new artwork. Our websites’ search functionality uses different features of your artwork to display the relevant results to our visitors and your prospective buyers. These features are the title, description and tags of your artwork.
TAGS: Use tags wisely. Do not just enter what you see in the artwork. Write the main colours that are visible. Write the locations that an image was taken or an artwork portrays. Also, include emotions that may be conveyed by viewing such artwork. You can also read this article on our blog to get a better idea for the best practices while tagging your artworks.
DESCRIPTION: Describe your artwork as detailed as you can. You might also add some details of how this artwork came to life. Your inspirations. What you felt when you were creating it. What you want the viewer to see. This might also raise some more interest in your artwork and trigger a discussion around it that will benefit such artwork to be shared and viewed more times increasing its possibility to be purchased.
LOCATION: Many buyers often look for images taken at specific cities, countries or locations, therefore adding this information in your artworks' description or tags can help your photos stand out from the crowd. Make the buyers work easier!
- How do I submit content for Artistic Exploits blog?
Submitting content for Artistic Exploits blog it is easy. Be reminded that we only upload articles by registered artists on our website. You only have to send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
1. Your full name;
2. Link to your profile page on Artistic Exploits or your user ID;
3. Title of the article;
4. Content of the article;
5. Any images that you want to be attached to the article.
We at least need 1 image to set as the articles’ image but feel free to send us as many as you like. If you do not have an image of your own or something that will fit the purpose of your article, you might want to search through our marketplace and choose one from another artist. Send us the Product ID and we will do the rest.
Both you and the artwork owner will get accredited for your work and we will provide direct links for your profile pages in order to direct your fans to you!
Tip: Please search through our blog and check that we have not already posted anything related in the past as that would directly disqualify your article.
Products / Artworks
- What kind of products can I sell through Artistic Exploits?
By subscribing to our services, you will be able to post for sale either digital or physical products under three (3) artwork categories. These categories are Photography, Digital Art and Painting. Both Photography and Digital Art artworks will be offered under Licencing Agreements and the buyer will be able to download the final artwork after the transaction is completed. For the Paintings' category, after an order is placed, the artist is responsible for the packaging and shipping of the final artwork to the buyer.
- What types of Licenses do you offer to prospective buyers?
Visitors of Artistic Exploits have the option to purchase any digital content under the following Licenses:
1. Personal License
2. Social & Web License
3. Extended Commercial License
4. For Editorial Use only
Artists have the option to offer their artworks under any license they feel comfortable with. They might offer their artwork either under one, two, or all licenses.
You may find all the relevant information under the Licensing section of our website. Artists have the option to offer their artwork under any of the Licenses according to what rights they are willing to give for every specific artwork they post for sale.
- Do you review each artwork that is offered for sale?
No, we do not. We believe that by incorporating such complicated procedures on our website we might make the experience for the artists more frustrating than it should be. You have the right to upload, update and change your listings whenever you like without having to wait for our permissions. Your new artworks, offers or updates will be available instantly.
This does not mean though that we will tolerate any artworks that violate our general Terms and Conditions. If you need to refresh your memory please click here to review the document once again!
Additionally, you should keep in mind that since the subscription packages are based on space, and it is only your reputation that is on the line, you need to focus on posting only your best work.
- Should I include any watermarks or logos on my uploaded artworks?
Please DO NOT include any personal watermarks or signatures on your artworks. Artistic Exploits embeds its own watermark on all artworks displayed on our marketplace to ensure that visitors will not be able to use such artworks without purchasing them first. We also removed the right-click functionality from our whole website to ensure that no one would be able to save any images of the artworks.
*Products that are found with private watermarks will be removed from the marketplace.
- What are release forms and when are they required?
A release form is a contractual agreement between the artist and a model or the owner of a property that is depicted in their artwork. Release forms secure legal permission to sell and/or publish images of such people and/or property.
A model release is required if a face or part of the body is recognisable in your artwork. This might also include a unique identifiable tattoo. You should be especially careful when it comes to depicting children in your artwork.
A property release is required if there are any identifiable private or public buildings and/or landmarks in your artwork. Intellectual property will also require a release form from the brand owner if such building and/or landmark has logos, trademarks, product designs or any artworks depicted on them.
You may find more information and sample forms in our Release Forms section.
- Will Artistic Exploits require release forms to be uploaded for every artwork?
No. At the time we do not require you to upload any release forms for your artwork. It is best though if you have them available. Most buyers, especially brands, companies and agencies, that will use your artwork for commercial purposes will require to have such release forms prior to purchasing any of your artworks.
Having a release form for an artwork means that such artwork may be used for a wider range of purposes. So, when creating new artwork, it is best to write in your product description if the appropriate release forms, if required, are available.
We will only require you to present us with such release forms if any of your artworks are under review for infringement or copyright claims.
- What happens if I state that an artwork contains nudity?
You must understand that it is our obligation to keep our website free of adult content materials for individuals of any age, ethnicity or religion to be able to enjoy without hesitations. If you mark an artwork as ‘it contains nudity’, it will just be blurred out in the general results of a search that a user performs. The artwork will still be listed in the overall results, and the visitor will have the choice to view and purchase the unblurred image in its actual details page.
Any artwork that contains nudity and is not marked as such by the creator, when it comes to our attention it will be removed from the marketplace. If an artist repeats this action more than once, then we reserve the right to delete that account and refuse such artist our services in the future.
- Can I create offers for my artworks?
All artists have the option to create scheduled offers for their artworks through their account. They may decide to do so when they create a new product or they may edit any individual product in the future to add a fixed price or percentage discount for a specific period of time. For your convenience, we have also added a mass promotion creation tool for you, to make it easier to create offers for several artworks at once. You might want to check that out. You can find that tool when you log in to your account under the tab ‘Offers/Promos’.
You may remove any offer you create, prior to its pre-set automatic expiration date at any time you require to do so.
Note that we, as Artistic Exploits, will never offer discounts on artist artworks in an attempt to promote our services.
- Can I remove an artwork from my account?
We do not advice any artist to delete any of their artworks. If you require more space then you may just upgrade your account to a larger subscription. Even if an artwork you have is sold out it is always best to leave it on your profile so that your fans see that you have completed other transactions successfully on our marketplace. This will generate more trust between you and your prospective clients.
If you still insist on deleting an artwork from your account then you may contact our support team at [email protected] and we will do that for you. Just email us the artwork ID and the reason you want to delete such artwork.
Please keep in mind that all digital products are subject to a check before their deletion therefore we will be unable to delete such artwork right away. We allow buyers a grace period of 30 days to redownload and save purchased licensed content. If that period goes by then your request will be processed.
In the meantime, just to make sure that such artwork in not repurchased you will have to immediately unpublish it.
Value Added Tax
- What is V.A.T.?
V.A.T. is an acronym for the European Union Value Added Tax. It is a consumption tax levied on goods and services within the European Union. Different rates of V.A.T. may apply in different EU member states.
- Who must pay V.A.T.?
Buyers who reside within the EU and do not provide us with a valid V.A.T. ID will pay the V.A.T. charges that may apply on any order they place through our website.
- Can I add a V.A.T. ID number after I completed my registration?
You will just need to visit your account and go to your profile. Click on ‘Edit Profile’ and visit the relevant section. Add the required information there. Our system will automatically validate your V.A.T. ID and if you are eligible then your purchases from now on will be with no V.A.T. charges.
- Why subscription V.A.T. charges vary for different artists?
Artistic Exploits is based in Cyprus, which is a European Union member. From 1st of January 2015, the rules around the European Union V.A.T. charges have changed. This affects all sales of digital services, and it also applies to our subscription plans.
According to those regulations, from 1 January 2015, telecommunications, broadcasting, and electronic services are always taxed in the country where the customer belongs* – regardless of whether the customer is a business or a consumer – and regardless of whether the supplier is based in the EU or outside.
* For a business (taxable person) = either the country where it is registered or the country where it has fixed premises receiving the service.
* For a consumer (non-taxable person) = the country where they are registered, have their permanent address, or usually live.
If you require any further clarifications you may follow the below link to the official website of the European Union:
https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/vat/telecommunications-broadcasting-electronic-services-archived_en
- Should I include V.A.T. charges in my artwork prices?
No you should not. You just set your net prices without any taxes and our platform will automatically add the charges that would apply, based on the type/category of artwork and on your customers' country of residence, at checkout.
- How is V.A.T. calculated?
On Artistic Exploits, you will find both physical and digital artworks for sale. Physical and digital products are handled differently as it comes to VAT charges. All artwork prices you see on Artistic Exploits prior to purchase do not include VAT.
For Digital Artworks:
The VAT rate in the country where you are located determines the percentage of the artwork’s price that will be assessed as VAT. At checkout, when you confirm the country where you are located, the VAT % rate for that country will determine how much VAT you will be charged when you make that purchase.
For example, if you are located in Greece, you will always be charged 24% VAT. That means, if you buy a product for €10, you will be charged an additional €2.40 in VAT. Subsequently, if you buy a €20 product, you’ll be charged an additional €4.80 in VAT.
For Physical Artworks:All physical artworks (i.e. paintings, drawings) are charged with a flat 5% VAT rate regardless of the country of residence of the buyer or the artist.
For Print Items:
All print orders made through Artistic Exploits are charged with a flat 19% VAT rate regardless of the country of residence of the buyer or the artist.
*Please note that the above details may be subject to change as Artistic Exploits continuously strives to maintain compliance with evolving tax laws. No Artistic Exploits FAQ is intended to represent tax, accounting, or legal advice. Should you have any questions regarding your tax compliance or need tax advice, please consult your tax advisor.
- If I receive a refund, will the V.A.T charges be refunded as well?
Yes, if you are eligible for a refund, and if the artwork you have purchased included V.A.T. charges, then the refund will be issued for the full amount of such purchase.
Billing & Payments
- Why was my credit card declined during checkout?
There might be several reasons why your credit card payment may not have been processed when checking out on Artistic Exploits.
Outdated Payment Information
You might need to check and update your payment information before you place an order.
1. Did your billing address change recently?
2. Did your registered card expire?
3. If you are using your credit card for the first time, make sure that you entered all the required information correctly.
Authorise the transaction
In certain occasions, your bank may flag any unexpected activity on your account. This includes first time orders and/or high-value purchases, regardless of the credit card available balance or limit. Your bank may require your verbal authorisation to proceed. If you are purchasing from multiple stores at once your credit card will process it as one transaction.
Check for daily withdrawal or purchase limits
Most banks have limits on how much money can be charged in a single day. If you reached such limit, your bank may block your account from any further activity.
Use a different payment method
If you are unable to resolve the payment issue in a timely manner you may want to try a different credit card or even a different payment method. Our website also allows wire transfer transactions.
Total cart over €2.500
Our payment processors allow single purchases using a credit card only if the total cart in under €2.500 including shipping and V.A.T. charges. If your cart exceeds that amount you may want to create two or more carts to split the payment or you may use the wire transfer payment option at checkout.
- What payment methods can i use to checkout?
At the moment we accept bank wire transfers, and also Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro credit cards.
- Why do my sales do not match my payments?
We would like to remind you, that even though we do not deduct any commissions on your sales, as explained to you in our Terms & Conditions, we use an external third-party provider to handle the payments from and to the artists. This third-party provider charges a fee for each transaction they process. You may find those charges by visiting their website using the following link.
- How can i view my past payments?
In order to view all past payments that we processed to your wallet you first have to log in to your account and visit the ‘My Transactions’ tab on the left menu. You may then click on ‘View More’ next to every transaction line to see the exact details of that transaction.
- I made a purchase but a completely different amount is shown on my statement.
There might be two reasons why the purchase amount you see on our website may look different than what is shown on your bank statement:
1. Artistic Exploits lists all products for sale in Euro (€). Depending on the currency exchange rate between your country and the EU, the charged amount on your statement may appear higher or lower than what was listed on the site.
2. Credit cards can charge foreign transaction fees when users are buying items outside their country of issue. This may have been the case for your items since Artistic Exploits is based in Cyprus. We would suggest giving your credit card company a call to check to see if this was the case. Please note that Artistic Exploits does not charge this fee; this originates from your credit card company/bank, if applicable. If you believe that the amount on your statement does not reflect these two above issues, feel free to send us a message at [email protected] and we’d be happy to investigate the issue further.
- Why was I charged 1 euro?
This is not a charge but rather a pre-authorisation. Most of the times your credit card company places this small temporary authorisation charge on your card (around €1) to verify that there are funds in the account that is trying to make a purchase. This small charge will usually show up as a "pending" charge, and it should disappear within 7-10 days.
- How can I update my subscription payment information?
If you have an active monthly subscription with us then is set to renew automatically. You can only change the payment method by acquiring a new subscription. Do not worry. This does not mean that you have to build your account again. Just before your monthly subscription expires, and while you are logged in, go and purchase a new subscription. You will be directed to the checkout page where you will be able to place the details for your new payment method. All other information on your account will remain intact!
- Where can I view my earnings?
You may view all your sales through your account. You just have to log in, visit your account and press the ‘My Sales’ tab on the menu. Your sales are divided for your convenience. You will be able to see actual physical or digital sales on the first menu bar and any print sales that you have made on the second menu bar. You may filter your sales by specific periods and export them to excel if you need to save them or share such information with a third party.
- When will I receive my earnings?
Before you receive a notification for a sale, we make sure that the funds for such a sale are collected from the buyer and directly transferred in your electronic wallet that is automatically created with us at the time of your registration. In order for those funds to be released, in our effort to provide a safer online environment, some criteria have to be met:
Physical Artworks:
For the sale of any physical artwork (i.e. painting), the funds will be released and transferred to the artists' bank account only if the buyer has marked their order as 'Received' or if 30 days have passed from the day that the artist has updated the status of such order to 'Shipped'.
Digital Artworks:
For any digital artwork sale, our system automatically completes the sale after 30 days. Sometimes, when you are uploading many digital files at once mistakes can be made and that is understandable. Therefore, to prevent any mistakes, misunderstandings, and the need for refunds after the amount is transferred to the artist's bank account, a grace period is provided so that the buyer is able to check that the file that they downloaded is actually the same file that they purchased.
Print Orders:
For the sale of any print using your artwork, even though we actually print and ship the final product to the customer, the funds for the 'Print License" will be released and transferred to the artists' bank account when the buyer has marked their order as 'Received' or if 30 days have passed from the day that we update the status of such order to 'Shipped'.
- Why haven’t I received my earnings?
There could be several reasons why you haven’t received your earnings yet:
1. Has your account been verified yet through our KYC process?
2. Are the bank details your provided correct?
3. Have the above-mentioned criteria been met?
4. Did the buyer open a dispute case for that sale? Please keep in mind that it could take up to 7 business days for your account to be verified. And do not worry. If you have missed a payment cycle your earning will be there for the next cycle.
If you have checked all the above, and still have any issues, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] and we will be glad to investigate the matter for you!
- How do I verify my pay-out information?
Payout information is considered to be the IBAN and BIC numbers of the bank account you provided on your subscription registration, or while you were activating the affiliate program in your account. As that information was passed on to our payment processors and used for the verification of your identity (KYC), you are not able to change that yourself. If for any reason you wish to change that information you may contact us at [email protected] and we will act on your behalf.
Please note that you will have to pass through our KYC procedure once again. This procedure may take up to 7 business days and if any payments fall into that period then such payments will be delayed by one (1) month.
- What currency will I receive my pay-outs in?
We transfer all amounts in Euro. If the bank account you have provided for the payments is in another currency, the amounts will stay in your bank account until it is converted into your default currency.
- Can I refund a customer for their purchase?
Yes, you can. All artists have the option to refund their customers directly. If the order is not complete, and the amounts have not yet been transferred to your bank account, and are available in your electronic wallet you just have to go to the actual order and click on the refund button for the specific transaction.
If the order was completed, and the amount was transferred to your personal bank account then you will have to arrange the refund a different way.
- What is the 3D Secure?
With 3D Secure, a number of additional steps are added to the credit card payment process. The aim is to authenticate the cardholder performing the transaction. Basically, it helps protect against fraudulent use by unauthorised individuals.
The cardholder authenticates themselves to the issuing bank on the 3D Secure page by entering an OTP (One Time Pin) or known password etc.
In our efforts to keep a safe environment for both buyers and sellers we use 3D Secure payments as an added security for all credit card transactions over 50 euro to refrain fraudulent individuals from completing a purchase through our services and protect our artists from unwanted bank chargebacks.
Account Information
- How do I update or change my personal information?
Personal information is considered your contact information, addresses, profile images, telephone numbers etc. You may change this information at any time by just visiting ‘My Profile’ in your account. Go to the end of the page and click on the ‘Edit Profile’ button. After you are done, go to the end of the page and click 'Save'.

No need to worry. With the plethora of passwords, we need to remember these days, it happens to the best of us. Just click the ‘Forgot my Password’ link on the log in form and we will send you a reset link to the accounts’ associated email. The reset link will be valid for 24 hours.

Purchasing from the Marketplace
- How can I report a problem with an order?
In any case, please firstly contact the artist from which you have purchased such artwork from. We are certain that they will be willing to assist you with any queries that you may have. In the rare occasion that an artist does not reply within a week of your message then you may contact us at [email protected] and we would gladly try to assist you with any issues that you may have.
- Can I request a return or refund for Physical products?
All artists are obligated to state their store policies when creating their Artistic Exploits profile. We urge all buyers to review such policies prior to completing any purchases from such independent artist stores. If you have purchased an artwork from an artist that accepts returns then please directly contact them with such requests.
- How to search for artworks and artists on Artistic Exploits?
Search for artworks
To start your search, you will need to enter multiple descriptive terms in the search bar. If you are just browsing around, you may just click on the search button. This will bring up all artworks that are available on our marketplace. Of course, we do not suggest that!
Search results are ordered by how relevant the artworks are to what you are searching for. You can change that order with the sorting tool on the refinement tool on your left. Furthermore, you may filter the final results from the list of filters you will find on the left of your screen.
If you are here to order replication prints then it would be best to filter your results to show ‘Just for Print’ Products. You see not all artists offer prints of their artworks so do not waste your time!
Hint: If you type the name of an artist in the search area all artworks from that specific artist will appear!

We have dedicated a whole page on our website where we list all artists with an active subscription to make it easier for you to find them and for them to be found! You may find that page in our main menu in the tab ‘Artists’.
At the moment you can search for an artist by name or find all artists from a specific country if you want to support your local artists. Future updates will include search by type of art and by provided service. Just bear with us! Click on any profile image to be directed to that artists’ profile page.
- How can i order a replications print?
Artistic Exploits gives the option to any artist to choose whether the visitors on our website can order a replication print of their original artwork under a Printing License. The artist states their price and we then add the printing and shipping cost to the visitors’ order. If they give that option you will find a tick box on the right side of their artwork, under such artworks’ information. You will just have to click on that tick box and select your ‘Print Options’ from the button below. It is really easy.
If you cannot find the Artistic Exploits Printing License as an option in any given artwork, but you are eager to have that piece of art in your home, you may contact the artist directly. They might be offering prints on their own! In any such case, we cannot facilitate the payment for that order and the artist would print and ship the print to you.
Note: when a visitor selects to purchase a Printing License they only get the chance to order a replication print without gaining access to the original files.
- How can I contact an artist on Artistic Exploits?
Every artist has the opportunity to provide any contact information for themselves by writing such information in their profile page. You may find such information under the ‘Contact’ tab in each profile. Additionally, if they do not feel comfortable to share any email or telephone information, they also have the option to link their personal website and social media accounts so you can directly contact them through there.
If you can find none, then leave them alone! They might appreciate their privacy. 😊
- Can I make purchases as a guest on Artistic Exploits?
Unfortunately, for different reasons, we cannot allow visitors to make purchases as guests. You will need to register at least with a simple account prior to making any purchases using our services.
- What are Store Policies?
Each independent artist on Artistic Exploits is responsible to set their own policies regarding sales, shipping, refunds, exchanges or returns. Therefore, policies will vary from store to store.
Before purchasing any artworks, we urge you to review each stores’ Policies and make sure you understand and agree to any terms they may have. If you have any questions you may contact the artist directly as they will be the only ones to be able to answer such questions.
In the case they have no such Policies listed it is best to ask them to post them on their profile before you proceed with any purchase from the specific artist.
- What do you mean by ‘Digital Content’?
By the term Digital Content, we mean any artwork that might be available for License through our services. Such artworks may be photographs, graphics, illustrations etc.
- What types of Licenses does Artistic Exploits offer?
If you are interested in reviewing the types of Licenses, and all relevant usage and restriction Terms, that we offer you may visit the Licensing section of our website. We advise you to carefully read that agreement prior to making any purchases or posting any artwork for sale through our services.
- How can I download an artwork I purchased?
You may find all your purchased digital artworks when you log in your account under ‘My Downloads’ tab. Under each artwork, you will be able to see the expiry date for such download. Click the ‘Download’ button to save that product on your device.
- Can I re-download an artwork I purchased?
Purchasing Licensed Content from Artistic Exploits is simple. Because we have found that there are times that digital files fail or get corrupted, we allow all digital purchases of Licensed Content on our website to be redownloaded unlimited times for a period of 30 days after the transaction. We believe that this period is adequate in order for the Licensee to download and make copies of such Content. We advise you to at least make two copies of such Content on different drives or storage options.
- How can I track an order I placed from an independent artist store?
You can check the status of your order through your account when you log in. If the artist has marked the order as ‘shipped’ and has provided tracking information you can use that information to check the estimated delivery date of your order. That information will be available in the orders' details page under 'My Orders' tab.
We always advise artists to use trusted shipping companies to ship out their artworks to their fans. Also, we advise buyers to choose sellers that state in their store policies that they provide tracking information for all their shipments.
Either way, please contact the artist to assist you with any questions you may have for artworks you have purchased from them. We are certain that they would be happy to assist you!
- Why isn’t there any tracking information for an order I placed from an independent artist store?
Not all delivery methods include tracking information and not all artists use shipping methods that provide such information. If the artist stated in their store policies that they provide tracking information for all their shipments then you may directly contact the artist with the relevant order information and we are certain they would be glad to assist you!
- I received my order!
Since you are here that means it was your very first purchase. We hope it was just the start and we’ll see you back soon! In our effort to provide a safe purchasing experience to all our visitors, our system withholds the amounts for all physical product transactions until the buyer confirms that they received their artwork and authorises the release of that amount. In order to do that you just have to visit your account under ‘My Orders’ tab, find the specific order and change its status to 'received'. So easy!
Please act responsibly and release the amounts to the artist as soon as you receive the artwork. They’ve done their part. Now it is time to do yours!
Note that, if a buyer does not act within a logical timeframe, and there is no dispute open for that sale, then we will release the amount ourselves. Artists have to eat too!
- Can I cancel or return my order?
Such requests can be made directly to the independent artist stores and it is entirely up to them if they would accept. If they did not already ship the artwork maybe they can cancel the order and refund you for the purchase.
If the artwork was shipped or even delivered, you should first check the artists’ store policies by visiting their profile. If they do accept returns, and you agree with their returns and refunds policies, then you may contact them in order to arrange such return. Please be advised that the sellers cannot give you a refund after the order was shipped. If you agree for a return then tell the artist to inform us to arrange the refund for you.
- What can I do if I did not receive my order?
We urge all buyers that use our services, to purchase artworks from artists that provide tracking information for each shipment. Nonetheless, you do not have to worry. We keep all funds, for all orders, for up to 60 days after the transaction is completed. In order for us to release the funds, the buyer needs to go to their account and mark the order as 'received'.
The first thing you are required to do in such an occurrence is to first contact the artist. All artists will be happy to resolve any issues that you may have. They also have the option to refund a sale if the delivery or shipment was not completed. Make sure when contacting an artist with such issues to give them all the relevant information they might need (such as order ID) to investigate the issue.
- What can I do if an artist is not responding?
On the rare occasion that you do not hear back from an artist for a period of one week, please contact us at [email protected] with all relevant order information and we will do our best to assist you in contacting them or resolving the matter on your behalf.
- Can I request a refund for Digital artworks?
It is our main effort to ensure that you are satisfied with the artworks you purchase using our services. If you are purchasing a digital product that cannot be returned then we apologise but it is irrational to request a refund. You will be eligible for a refund for a digital artwork only if any of the following scenarios apply:
1. You have purchased the same artwork twice by mistake;
2. You have purchased the wrong license for an artwork;
3. There is a technical problem with the downloaded artwork that the artist cannot resolve;
4. The downloaded artwork is not the same as the representation in the artwork details page;
All these scenarios would apply if you make the request within 24 hours of the transaction.
In any case, please first contact the artwork owner/seller and we are sure they will be happy to assist you.

Technical Talk
- How can I add metadata to my images?
Adding metadata to your images will give you the extra benefit of appearing more in our marketplace results but also in the results of different search engines. Metadata could be added to any image even if that is a thumbnail for viewing purposes or an actual digital product. You can do this in both Photoshop and Lightroom by just following a few easy steps.
Photoshop
1. Go to File > File Info > IPTC and scroll way down to IPTC Content;
2. The title of the image should be set in the ‘Headline’ field;
3. The description of the image should be set in the ‘Description’ field;
4. The tags of the image should be set in the ‘Keywords’ field, separated by commas.Lightroom
In Lightroom, under the ‘Library’ tab, select the images you want to change, and go to the right-hand column under Metadata. Make sure the IPTC category is selected at the top left of the section.
1. The title of the image should be set in the ‘Headline’ field;
2. The description of the image should be set in the ‘Description’ field;
3. The tags of the image should be set up in the ‘Keywording’ section which is above Metadata. Enter your tags in the text field separated by commas.
- How can I reduce or resize the size of my images?
The JPEG is the most common image format on the web, allowing everyone to send files that retain their quality while not being too large. On our website, there are several sections that have a size limitation on the uploaded image, therefore we thought that it would be best for us to make available to you relevant information on how to easily reduce an images’ size with free programs you have available on your device. Below you will find some easy ways to reduce the size of an image for both Windows and Mac users.
For Windows:
1. Firstly, you will need to launch the MS Paint program. We are sure that every windows user has played around with this tool once or twice! Well, this tool can also serve you well for this purpose.
2. Go to File > Open and open the image you want to resize.
3. Move to the Home tab and find the ‘Resize’ option. When you click on it, a new dialogue box will appear with several settings. Before adjusting anything, it is important to check the ‘Maintain Aspect Ratio’ box in order to keep the images’ original proportions intact.
4. Besides adjusting the images’ size by a specific percentage, you may also change the resolution. Just click on the ‘Pixels’ tab and decide how many pixels per inch you would like your file to be.
5. If you are satisfied with the end result select the ‘Save As’ option from the ‘File’ tab and save a new version of the original image under a new name. For Mac:
Launch Preview. This is a preinstalled program that comes with every computer. It allows you to edit images so it will be great for resizing.
1. First, open the image you would like to resize in Preview.
2. Go to the ‘Tools’ tab and choose ‘Adjust Size’. This will open a new dialogue box called Image Dimensions. If you are not experienced with these procedures, we recommend that you change the measurement to ‘percent’ and then choose the number that fits your needs for the final image file size. When you change this value, the ‘Resulting Size’ section will tell you exactly how large your new file will be.
3. Click ‘OK’ and you will be able to see how the image looks with the new settings.
4. If you are satisfied with the end result select the ‘Save As’ option from the ‘File’ tab and save a new version of the original image under a new name.
- How can I increase my images’ resolution?
Making an image smaller would be a good idea if you are using such an image for a blog or a thumbnail for a product but not all of your work will require such a low resolution. There are occasions that you will need larger images, especially if you are an artist offering prints for your clientele. Learning how to increase an images’ resolution will prove to be a valuable skill and with today's software, you will be able to boost your image resolution to a certain extent without compromising its quality. Below you will find out how to increase your images’ resolution using Photoshop.
1. Firstly, you will need to open the desired image in Photoshop. Make sure that the ‘Image Size’ panel is visible. This will allow you to alter a variety of the images’ settings.
2. Check the ‘Resample Image’ box before making any adjustments on your image. Our recommendation is to change the resolution up to 300 PPI (pixels per inch) as if you go higher than that you might get inferior results. Please note that this will also increase the file size substantially.
3. Click ‘OK’ to allow the software to make the appropriate adjustments. You will notice that your image window will get noticeably larger.
4. If you are satisfied with the end result select the ‘Save As’ option from the ‘File’ tab and save a new version of the original image under a new name.
